Can anyone tell me how to relate the pin numbers in the EMP software (such as 29A, 13B, etc.) to the letters on my M8's MIL plug (A.. Z .. etc.)

Thanks,

Oliver

These 2 M8 wiring drawinhgs should help you.

Aha! Thanks for that - I had seen those codes before but somehow hadn't realised their significance.

Cheers,

It might not be obvious yet - but I am trying to sort out a wiring loom on the cheap by doing all the work myself.... having never touched one before! The M8 and loom are staying on the engine they were originally built for, but I am trying to add in some extra bits.

My next problem is thus:

I am planning on fitting a paddle gear shift to my sequential gearbox and need to wire in the gear change ignition cut. Having been through the map and loom, I have found that the four Digital Inputs are the ones to use. However, these are currently employed by the ignition amp. The final option I believe is the Switched Input - but on my loom this is already used to turn traction on and off.

From what I can see, these five inputs are the only ones to use with the gear change cut. As they are all already employed I have no option (unless I remove the traction switch and switch it by modifying the map with the laptop).

Are there any other inputs I can use to perform the gear change function?

Thanks for any help.

Oliver

Your only option is to run wase spark ignition which would free up 2 digital inputs.

hmmm, not sure I want to change the loom much, plus can my single amp handle wasted spark up to 12,000rpm?

I think I have found another way..... If I use the switched input for the gear change cut I think I can achieve traction by using my ADL to determine the slip (already fitted with 4 x wheel speed), and send the slip info to the ECU via the auxiliary "wheel slip voltage" channel. If I put a switch in line between ADL and ECU, then no voltage = no traction? Now I only have to work out how on earth to set up the ADL to send the info properly!.........

Getting a slip channel out of the ADL will not be ideal. The ADL does no DC outputs, you can only make them turn off and on, frequency output or PWM output so you will need to convert a frequency to a voltage ( there are electronic parts to do this) or convert a PWM signal to a voltage.

What ignition module are you using? There are drawings on the MoTeC website that show how to connect multiple modules for waste spark.
