M8 Speed Input

Postby 64hardtop on Sat Apr 10, 2010 8:56 am

Can I use a hall effect sensor on the Dig In on my M8 for speed measurement? I have an Autometer unit that 'sandwiches' between the transmission and the stock speedo cable that houses a hall sensor. I've used logic level sensors in the past (3 wire inductive prox) successfully. Any special requirements such as a pull up resistor to +8v?

Cheers.

Yes the M8 dig inputs are made for open collector type hall effect sensors. They will also work with a push/pull type output, but not so well with a mag or resistive-mag type sensors.

The input has an internal 4700ohm to the 5v supply.
