Communication issue between M800/SDC3/SDL/PDM15

Postby Runde on Tue May 21, 2013 6:26 pm

Hi.

We are building one car with those parts and now there is big issue with communications.

PDM15 needs 1Mbit/s CAN bus and SDC3 only works in 500kbit/s. All other products works in both bus speeds.
Only if SDC3 would have serial bus then we could connect it via that to M800. I think it's not so huge thinbg to modify SDC3 bus speed because it has basically all same components as SDC2 which works in 1Mbit/s bus.

Does anyone have any ideas?

We didn't receive any help from local dealer?

Regards
Mikko

Had the same issue on mine. One component (PDM, LTC or SLM, PC comms forget which) would only talk to the ADL at 1 MB/s, MBE ECU would only talk at 500kB/s, so ADL couldn't talk to all. The only way round for me was to upgrade to ADL3 with 2 cans, one set to 1MB/s for all the motec stuff the other at 500 kB/s for the ECU. Not the cheapest solution but it worked.

I got the same answer from other source also but definetely it's not the cheapest one. :)

I think now easiest choice will be to install SDC2 on that configuration and then all devices works at 1M bus...

You can solve this with a CANbus bridge, like this one:

http://www.icpdas.com/products/Remote_I ... i-7532.htm

In the USA, you can buy it direct for less than $400:

Another brand (that I have actually used with a 2013 Mustang and an SDL is from Ixxat, I believe it was in the $700-$900 US range.
