I am currently adding a PDM to my M800 & ADL system. Some power control signals will come from the CAN bus. If I have power problems (failures) what CAN bus analyzer, UTC are people using to identify where the problem is located?

This:

Hi Wellison,
We use these devices for basic CAN Analysis work.
http://www.vscom.de/vscom-usb-can.htmlAnd Busmaster software to operate it.

Thanks for the responses. Do other race teams worry about not being able to isolate, at the track, which CAN connected devices are not sending/receiving correctly on the CAN bus?

I recently learned about the Motec CAN utility "CAN Inspector" that uses the UTC (or Ethernet bridged dash) you already have. It's found in the Utilities V1.11 downloadable from:
http://www.motec.com.au/software/latestreleases/It doesn't really do much more than capture addresses and raw data fields, but often that's all you need to diagnose if data isn't being transmitted from some device, or what address are sending data.

Just so everyone is aware, CAN Inspector currently only works with M1 ECUs and the UTC. The functionality will be rolled into future releases of Ethernet enabled Dashes.
