how do we change the Motec software so we use com port 2 on a machine running XP

com port 1 is already used by another device (mouse??)

The F5 key brings up the list of Com ports when you are in the program integrator screen.

when i load the M4 software i get a choice of 4 versions. whichever version i select i get this windows message

"'the system cannot open COM1 requested by the application"

i get the choice to close or ignore. if i select ignore, i can sometimes get to the program but i still cant conenct to the M4 using either a serieal port or a USB to serial adaptor

It's the screen where you pick which of the programs you want to run, Interpreter, etc. I think it's the same screen where you are choosing from the multiple versions. Try the F5 key at that point, or if there was a screen before where you selected to edit the ECU...

Are you using of the most recent EMP version? I think the manual port selection feature only came in V6.20:
