C127 Slow to be discovered

Postby alexmas0n on Thu Sep 15, 2016 10:28 am

Hi,

I am having various experiences in getting the C127 to connect to Dash Manager through Ethernet. It appears as though it's hit or miss: I sometimes get a connection quickly, sometimes it takes a long time, sometimes it just doesn't connector.

I've been able to get a connection within seconds at times. Other times it takes 1-2 minutes, or even more.

There are two main things that can cause this, one is anti virus/firewall software and the other is certain network traffic.

What anti virus software do you have installed? Are you connecting to the C127 via a network or simply using an Ethernet cable directly between the logger and the PC?

Hi,

I use both the anti-virus and firewall provided with Windows 7. I believe its called Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall.

As for connection, I just use a hardwired ethernet cable into the pc.

Can you try turning off MSE and see if it helps. If that works then you need to look at adding an exception in the firewall for MoTeC Discovery and C127 Dash Manager.

So I tried both suggestions. Looks like I've found the solution.

In the speed & duplex tab, auto-negotiation seems to cycle too quickly between speeds and times out.

I chose 10mpbs full duplex as a permanenet network adapter speed & it hangs long enough to identify & register.Image
