Hi all

Is it expected that "Fuel Composition" is only collected/displayed/logged when Fiex Fuel is enabled?

If I have Alternative Fuel Mode is disabled it ignores the fact that the sensor is defined...set Alternative Fuel Mode to Flex Fuel and it operates as expected.

Can kind of see why it might be ignored, however it would be handy to be able to still see the output from the sensor even if not yet ready to configure Flex Fuel.

Hi,

I believe 'Fuel Composition Sensor' will still report a number even if Alternative Fuel Mode is set to Not in Use.

'Fuel Composition' uses 'Fuel Composition Sensor' as it's input channel but will hold the last value if the sensor diagnostic reports a fault. All of the Alternate Fuel subsystem uses 'Fuel Composition' rather than the sensor value for this reason.

To have the Fuel Composition channel on CAN you need to enable the Alternative Fuel Mode, but the sensor will report the Fuel Composition and Fuel Temperature with the Alternative Fuel Mode set to Disabled.

Mine isn't in Tune...0 when disabled, 4.4 when enabled. Not even looking at can figures at this point.
I'll check Fuel Compositon Sensor tomorrow once I have fixed the carpc.

What does the Fuel Temp report? Assuming that you have this configured from the Fuel Composition sensor as well.

So as SOReilly said the Fuel Composition Sensor continues working when Alternative Fuel Mode is enabled but Fuel Composition doesn't.
I have added the Fuel Composition Sensor to the logging set, that will do until I get some mapping done.
Thanks all for your assistance.

@Stephen, I am currently using a combined pressure/temperature sensor for the fuel temperature...the fuel composition sensor was kind of an afterthought as I had a spare digital sensor pin sitting around doing nothing. This build is kind of "evolving" with constant scope creep every time I get bored and have another "bright" idea.
