Hi

what are the possibilities for motec to run this mode 36-1 crank sensor only, as i was trying before with linkecu but with the ecu limitation to that trigger mode i couldn't run it, so can i do this with motec with choosing multi tooth with missing and batch fire? or i need to fit a cam senosr to get the Ford Duratec mode work it out for me?

With a 36-1 crank only, you would use 'Crankshaft One Missing Two Stroke' mode.

This will require you to run batch fire and wasted spark. You would also need to set the number of cylinders to half the actual number present, and often the engine displacement needs to be halved to get all the engine loads etc calculated correctly.

The Duratec and Mazda L3 reference modes require very specific camshaft trigger patterns, which match various VVT variants of the engine.

If you were to add a single tooth for a cam sensor, you would switch to 'Crankshaft On Missing Four Stroke' for sequential operation.

Hi Nathan

thanx for the reply, this engine is AUD style cosworth and comes only with crank trigger in, i got it fired up with 4 stroke one missing but faced a lot of noise there and ref errors, i will try your settings here and see where it will put us.

Thanks for the help
