Throttle Servo Bank 1 Diagnostic Error

I have a PNP M150 system that I purchased from John Reed for my 2009 CTSV. I have reached out to him about this separate issue but wanted to ask here also to see if anyone may have a lead to repair it.

I recently attended a cruise and car show. I cruised up and down the drag all day, and that evening I parked my car and showed it off. After the event was over I got in my car, started it and went to pull out into the main road but I had no throttle pedal. I hooked up the laptop and my throttle pedal voltages were moving, but I was getting a Throttle Servo Bank 1 Diagnostic Error (Aim Tracking Fault). When I pushed the throttle to the floor I would get Ignition Cut, and it was cutting ignition to several cylinders. I left the car sitting there overnight and returned the next day to get it. I removed the MOTEC and plugged the factory ECM back in, and the car runs great.

Are these M150s prone to crapping out?

NO but they do seem to be intolerant of non-GM sourced throttle bodies. I had a customer with LS engine, and we had some Aim tracking faults, he bought a new GM throttle body (he thought he might have gotten a knock-off previously), and that curried his reliability problems with Aim Tracking Fault.

Ahh. I am still using a factory LS3 size throttle body. But the guy I bought it from did disassemble it so that he could detail and polish it. I have never had problems with it until now.

Well, you may be able to just test / recalibrate and bring it back into spec. The GP packages have help that details the process, but usually we just send new throttles to MoTeC to be calibrated. it may just be a few tweaks like re-setting the Main / Tracking Offsets / Scales is all that is required, or perhaps there is a linearization table that needs adjusting to avoid Aim Tracking Faults.

It is worth a shot. Thank you. I found your write up on how to calibrate it and Ill try it first thing tomorrow and report back.

I did the calibration on both the Throttle main offset and the Main Scale settings were already both spot on.

An Aim Tracking fault means that the Throttle plate is not moving in the manner that the M1 is trying to drive it. Do you have any logging of this occurring that could be shared?

Hello, Im sorry for it has been years since I have replied. I sent my ECM to a guy that helped in the firmware design for this make, model vehicle. I dont think he messed with the ECM at all to test it. But after almost 2 years, he finally returned the ECM back to me. He mentioned the possibility of a tune file corruption, and to maybe try reloading an older file. Which I will try this evening. But, I plugged the ECM back in yesterday and it is still doing the same thing. I have attached a copy of the log file for all to see.

Again, sorry for the extremely long delay in response. I really feel that the ECM has an internal failure, and will need to be repaired. I need a contact with Motec that I can send this ECM to for inspection and repair.

Hi,

Unfortunately there is not enough relevant channels in this logging to determine the cause, channels such as the sensor voltages need to be logged to see how the throttle is moving. It looks like it goes into fault as soon as the M1 is powered, can you confirm that the motor is wired correctly, it should snap closed on power up as it does a zero position reset, can you confirm that this happens. If it opens, the M1 will put the DBW into fault for safety.

If the throttle opens on power up, then you need to swap the Motor + and Motor - pins in the connector for the M1.

The system is wired correctly. The car ran and drove fine for the first 6,000 miles. Then all of a sudden it went into some sort of fault mode. Last night I tried to flash in the very first tune file I created, thinking that maybe the current tune file was corrupt.....this didn't help.

My wiring still uses the factory engine harness for the vehicle, but has a custom integrated harness that connects the ECU to the Factory harness. This was done by John Reed, and he has sold many of these kits without any issues.
