GSXR1000 L8

Good Day ....

I am trying to start The new Gsxr 1000cc (2019) ,

1- how to find TDC offset ?? Cylinder 1 is on left ??

2- coil dwell time

Please can some assist or provide me base tune , support

Appreciate your help guys.

I doubt you will find anyone here with much experience for that exact engine.

However, on the off chance that the Suzuki trigger hasn't changed much, I can tell you that the GSXR-1000 K8 (2008-2009) used engine speed reference mode "Crankshaft Two Missing Four Stroke", Rising Edge mag sensor (pullup off, 0v threshold) for crank, and rising edge hall sensor (pullup on, 2v threshold) for the sync. with an Engine Speed Reference Offset of 467.0 deg.

The factory workshop manual should have a procedure to check the timing, the K8 had a removable port on the right side of the engine, and I was able to confirm this setting with a timing light.

I'm not sure my Denso coils have the correct dwell time, but the engine was running fine with a Dwell of around 4ms at 13-14v. I probably measured that using a current probe on a oscilloscope, but I don't remember.

I opened 2009 service manual and i foud out that it is +4 degrees then my brain came out with
One more question ? We always check timing on tdc cyl 1 and no mark on , or reference on the left side

I really wanted to double check things

Hi,

If you have the part number of the coils I can look through our calibrations and see if there is one that already exists for those coils.

Hi,

I have looked through the calibrations that we have for coils, and I cannot find a match, nor can I find a cross reference for that coil to an existing coil.

If you would like to have these coils calibrated, then you can send them to us for calibration via an Approved MoTeC Dealer.

I have access to the stock ECU , but i think so the units in mJ can i attach screenshot if that is possible

In case that will not help please let me know so i can send the coil through motec dealer.

Hi,

If you have access to the base dwell curves out of the OEM ECU, then they should be OK to use with the M1. If you can get them, post them here and I can check them out to see if the values are plausible.

I have to say, that in all of the coils that I have done dwell curves for, I have not ever seen a need to have the dwell changed on engine speed, with one of the tests that I do when I make a Dwell table for a coil is to run the coil at different engine speeds (up to 16k for most coils, 10k for the others) to make sure that the dwell remains stable and generates the same output at the higher engine speeds.

I'm not even sure what numbers would be the best to pull out of that table.
