No boost control

Postby Doorev1200 on Wed Dec 02, 2020 10:47 am

Last season i had full closed loop boost control. This season i added a separate boost sensor. I calibrated it correctly and now have a channel for boost pressure and also boost pressure sensor. Last season with just the map sensor the boost pressure read as it should- 0 psi with key on eng off. Now this year the boost sensor channel reads the same at 0 psi key on eng off but my boost pressure channel reads -14.7psi.

So now when i get into boost the system does not activate. It seems the m1 is using the boost pressure channel instead of the boost pressure sensor channel. On log i i can only get 8psi (gate spring pressure) becuase the boost system does not actuate. The ecu sees -6psi when the boost sensor sees 8psi so it doesnt hit the 3psi needed to activate the system. Any ideas? If i go back to just the boost pressure channel it works as it should.

Hi,

Which sensor are you using? it sounds like you are using a MAP sensor that is reading an absolute value, rather than a gauge value. Can you change the translation table for the sensor so that the sensor reads 0 when the engine is off?

My boost sensor translation is:
1.720v=-0.8psi
4.99v =28psi

My boost pressure sensor channel reads 0psi with engine not running. The boost pressure channel reads -14.7psi with engine off. When i run no boost sensor, just the bosch tmap, the boost pressure channel reads 0. So it seems i cant run a separate boost sensor??

I am using a bosch tmap sensor 0281 002 845
I am using a gm 2 bar sensor for the boost sensor channel with the translation i mentioned in the prior post.

Everything works fine with just the bosch tmap. When i addbthe boost sensor channel it works fine but the boost pressure channel changes. Not sure what is going on

I think i figured it out. I calibrated the boost pressure sensor a a guage reading when its absolute. Now when i calibrate the boost pressure channel as guage it works out. Thanks for the reply!
