Can expansion compability

Postby Mobne on Tue Aug 18, 2020 4:27 am

I have 2 expanders and a EGT box from my previous haltech setup.
I have the complete can procols from them provided by haltech.

Will this be compatible to use with the m150? Would save me some trouble rewiring and extending the harness.
Can i program the can protocol directly to the ecu or must i go trough my c127 dash?

You dash has much more flexible CAN device support.

What expansion info would you want to use in the M150? Most likely you could receive the info in the dash, then transmit it in a form the M150 (with a GP package) could receive / use. There are some limitation in the M150 so knowing what you are trying to support would be helpful.

I really just want to use the resources on the expansions
So I don’t have to mess too much with the wiring when changing ecu.
And save some inputs in the ecu.

I post the protocols, maybe that will make things easier :)

The Analog Voltage inputs are the easy ones for position, pressure, temperature sensors.

Again, not knowing if you are trying to do cam control with the DPO (probaby won't work), or just read wheelspeeds with the DPI -- bottom line, read it in the dash, manipulate as required, and send to the M1 using the standard CAN 16-bit values the M1 supports in all the GP packages.

If you can do custom firmware, you could support those devices directly.

I’m only using them for simple sensors. Haltech did not allow advanced sensors for engine control on expanders.
So as you say I have wheel speed, temps and pressure wired to them. Nothing fancy.

Ok will try that if I get the feeling for it then :)
