Potential Benefits - Separate Boost Sensor?

Postby ajwithers on Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:45 am

I was wondering what some of the potential benefits would be from using a separate sensor for boost reference, versus just using the MAP sensor.

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,

In full throttle applications not as much of a gain, unless you have a restrictive throttle body (I have seen a 10+kPa variance across the throttle body using correctly calibrated MAP and Boost sensors) but a low to medium throttle speeds you can get better boost control as the boost sensor is seeing the actual boost being delivered, rather than the MAP sensor that is seeing the throttled air.
