Motec M142 ECU on MINI R56 KIT. REQUEST FOR ADVICE

Hello,

I have a Motec M142 engine management system installed in a MINI R56 (a 2011 John Cooper Works with a N14B16C engine).

Generally it's working very well, but the yellow engine warning light shows on the central screen and a traction control warning icon appears on the small screen in the rev counter.

When I run a Motec M1 tune program, it shows the following error message:

"ECU Internal 12V4 Diagnostic - Low Fault"

And above about 3,000 rpm, additionally the following error messages:

"Wheel speed front left diagnostic - CAN Data Invalid"
"Wheel speed front right diagnostic - CAN Data Invalid"
"Wheel speed rear left diagnostic - CAN Data Invalid"
"Wheel speed rear right diagnostic - CAN Data Invalid"

Could you guide me as to how I can eliminate these error messages? The tuner here in Istanbul who supplied the system has been trying to solve the problem but without success.

With best regards,

Hi,

Do you have any logging that is showing this issue?

What happens with the wheel speeds below 3000rpm? are they reading correctly?

Hello,

I have mounted a M142 with Mini R56 package 2 weeks ago, and since the begining, each time the engine is running I have the error ""ECU Internal 12V4 Diagnostic - Low Fault" that appears continously.

I don't have the log level 2, but I took a picture of the telemetry during this error :

ECU_Internal_12V4_Low_Fault.PNG
ECU_Internal_12V4_Low_Fault.PNG (415.74 KiB) Viewed 11932 times

We can see that when the engine is stopped, there is no error : Voltage = 12.52V, low voltage threshold < 12V.
But when the engine is running, the low voltage threshold jump to 12.8-12.9V, and the absolute voltage is perfectly constant to 12.52V.

I guess the low voltage threshold is "12V battery" compensated, so my question is about the 12V4 power supply level ? what are the standard voltage of this power supply when engine is stopped and running ?

For me this power supply level is constant, all seems to be good...
I have another problem with the launch control activation, but I don't think that's linked.

Thank you !

Hi,

Thanks for the screen capture of the fault occurring, I have reported this to the engineers to investigate.

Hi All,

The ECU Internal 12V4 Diagnostic Low has a calculation error where it is generating the low value based off of ECU Battery Voltage rather than the ECU 12V4 parameter. This is not going to cause issues with running the ECU. We are looking at doing an update for the Package to resolve the issue.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer !

I have some others request about this package, do you would like to update it to new system version 1.04.xx with some enhancements or do you just want to fix this error ?

Cyrille

Hi Cyrille,

Send the changes through, and I'll pass them on for evaluation.

Ok,

I have some requests on this package is it possible ?

Thank you.
