Hi all

A fairly general question relating to paddle shift. Can someone confirm whether the following are the IO I need as a minimum for paddle shift -

Input

Up shift button
Down shift button
Gear position sensor
Accumulator pressure sensor

Output

Air compressor pump
Actuator up
Actuator down

I will already have DBW for throttle blipping

Thanks in advance

Hi Dennis,
You should also include:

Clutch switch - needed for shift logic going into and out of neutral when using Manual and Auto modes. Without it you can only run in Fault mode which will not allow rev matching. Clutch can be from a simple on/off switch, clutch pressure or clutch pedal position.

Mode Switch - Can be used to change shift modes (Manual, Automatic, Fault and Paddle Fault). Use a multi position switch. Not essential to making the system work but if you lock it into manual mode, for example, and then have a sensor fail on the track you won't be able to switch it into a fault mode and get back to the pits easily. As a simple solution just use an on/off switch to go between manual and fault modes.

Brakes - can be used for Auto shifting logic to decide between straights and corners. Can be a switch or brake pressure. Again, not essential to the working of the function but adds some extra refinement to the automatic mode.

Driven Wheel Speed(s) - essential for rev matching. No race car should be without wheel speeds these days :)
