Sending the page 28 data via 00x20 extended worked. (0x1d did not.) Many thanks! Diagnostic is cleared, and M1 is sending VCSCompound messages (0-4) on 0x1f.

Now to get the VBOX to stuff those messages into the video stream so i2 can find them.

EDIT: It's all working as I hoped now. I do need my PMU to emulate a VCS to the extent that it sends a 0x20 extended message (1 Hz) based on page 28 of the VCS manual using manipulated data gleaned from the HD2's 0x7D0 message. Then the M1 begins sending video sync messages every 60s (seems long -- video might be going out of sync more rapidly than that but whatever).

I can now view synced video with M1 data in i2 Pro. Sweet!
