M130 looking for e46 m3 dbw characterisation

Postby chuckk on Fri Oct 19, 2018 3:23 am

Hi,

I am currently looking for the characterisation to properly run an e46 M3 DBW actuator. If anyone is willing to share I would appreciate it a lot.

thanks

Hi,

Do you have the part number for this DBW motor? If you can post it I'll see if we have characterised it.

Hi,

We haven't characterised either of those DBW throttles, we don't actually have a lot of BMW component calibrations.

Some of the BMW throttles do also have a Bosch part number, I can look that number up if it is available.

Hi Sean.

If I turn the question then?
Which BMW throttle engine have you characterized?

Sincerely, Nils-Erik

Amazing the information that gets lost over time. Just look up the in Motec DBW-4 Manager, it's a Pierburg DBW motor (pn 7831529). Here is Motec's own characterization for it:

Proportional gain: 100
Integral gain: 50
Derivative gain: 140
PID period: 2
Dead band: .3
Feed fwd gain: 30
Integral P clamp: 40
Integral Negative clamp: -1%
Max volts: 12.8
Frequency: 8k hz

PS: I am not positive as to how to fill out the remainder of the control table for this DBW motor in M1Tune, but I know at least two cars successfully using the above settings and leaving the rest of the table blank.

At least one M1 Tune configuration for the E46 M3 DBW throttle body motor I have seen uses the following variation:

P: 100
I: 40
d: 100
Integral negative clamp: -30%
Feed fwd: 10
Volts: 14
