Ref/synch question, long crank to start Pors 993

Postby jeffkraftwks on Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:10 am

I have a porsche 993 engine with a new M84 installation along with ITB's etc. It starts & runs, but there is a relatively long crank to start, and an occasional ref/synch error that randomly shows when running. It has the 60 minus 2 flywheel hall sensor, and a cam mounted hall synch sensor. I added a capture file to see if anyone can suggest a solution? Not sure if the sensor setup is correct, have not done this before. Checked air gap a couple times but not sure what else. Thanks for your help, Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Do you have any logging of this issue?

Thank you Stephen, I am adding the latest log from this morning. I believe it had the ref/synch error during this session. The long crank is consistent, but only gives an error occasionally.

Hi Stephen, here is a new log file that I just recorded a few minutes ago. This definitely has the synch error remaining after startup. During the run, I reset errors and it did not come back, but unable to determine the cause. Thank you, Jeff

HI Jeff,

Is you Sync signal setup for a rising or falling edge trigger? and how high is your crip?

Hi Nathan,

The Sync signal is a hall sensor, the edge polarity is set at 0:Fall, the sync trigger voltage is set to 0.0 (per hall type).

The CRIP is set at 87.0

Thank you, Jeff
