Hi All,
I am hoping to change my current ecu to a M84, but will it run with the existing pickup?

If not what would be the best to use, taking into account I have limited space.
Cheers SRR.

Hi,

Is there also a sync (camshaft) sensor on this engine? if the leading or trailing edges are equally spaced and there is a sync sensor then the One tooth Per Firing or Multi Tooth reference modes could be used. I would need to see more information on the trigger before I could give a definitive answer.

Hi SDean,
Thanks for getting back to me.
There isn't a cam sensor, bike is from 1984 so quite basic.

I have the following information from the existing ecu manufacturer

"At speeds below 700 RPM the ignition timing is fixed to spark on the rising edge of the tooth that precedes the long tooth(slug) (cyls 1/4) and the tooth that follows the slug (cyls 2/3).
From 700 RPM upwards the ignition timing is adjustable."
I could possible fit a cam sensor, but it will be tricky.
Also the pickup to the left of the first picture is the only one being used, the one to the right is disconnected.
The main problems I have are
1. Bike kicks back when trying to start, sometimes undoing the starter clutch.
2. When warm it is hard to restart.
3. When riding and accelerating the bike will not pull boost unless I turn the choke on.

Cheers SRR

Sync sensor on a GSX1100, GT101 reading off a cam lobe. You could use a GSXR sync sensor, but need to check. Some of the GSXR ones have a weird offset signal. What cams do you have in it, generally the aftermarket like Web Cam have fairly pointy lobes.

I'd run a later GSXR trigger and pickup. They're standard EFE pickups on there now?

This bike isn't mine, but I've done a bit of work on it.

Thanks Sean,
Looks interesting.
Have you any more pics of inside the cam cover?
I'm running standard cams.
I have decided to change the Ignition Rotor to a Kawasaki zzr style,it will fit in the casing and I know the pattern works on a M84.
Also have you got a copy of the map?
I have been looking at the software and would like to have a play with a map to get my head round how it all works.
Cheers SRR

Another question,
Can I run the M84 without a cam sensor ?

i fitted a cam sensor on a B1 Gpz1100 Kawasaki , first one was on a cam lobe ( with std cams — very pointy lobe ) worked fine , i used 10,000 Rpm , when i fitted different high profile , long duration cams , the ecu would “ loose “ sync over 5000 rpm , i fitted a sensor on the exhaust cam sprocket , a simple tab the sensor saw , ment some welding and fabrication of the cam cover
photo is upside down , but illustrates where the sensor was fitted

pm me , i will email you photos
having no luck posting any
I think you can use a crank only sensor , but that will limit you to non sequential injection
