M84 Idle stepper motor LS1

Postby Tom H on Fri Nov 23, 2018 2:41 pm

hi, engine running at 2000 rpm on idle. could this be a setting, mine are

Idle control setup is
proportional gain 4
integral gain 0
derivative gain 1
dead band 50
activate TP 5
Activate ground speed 4
activate rpm 1300
rpm filter 4
air con increase 0
power steering increase 0

Auxiliary Out 5 is set to function 8 : Stepper Idle Speed Control (Aux5 only, uses 6,7,8 also)
Auxiliary output 6 is off
Auxiliary output 7 is off
Auxiliary output 8 is off

what is meant to happen on the test outputs
before the test A34 is earth and A33 is 12V, nothing at A31 and A32
During the test they are all zero, ie no reading

Any ideas on the settings or what to look at

it is a new idle control motor

Thanks
Tom

Hello,
The test mode does not work for a stepper motor as it only tests one output at a time, the stepper motor needs all four working in unison. Attached is a diagram of how the gM stepper motor should be wired, if it is not completely correct it will not work.

You can use more proportional gain than 4 to confirm it is working. You also need to make sure the Min Output is -200 and the Max Output is 200.

It is always best to attach the whole tune file to the post rather than just listing part of the setup.
