Ford TFI setup in M84

Postby CARSAE on Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:37 am

Hi Guys,

Just wired up M84 onto early injected Ford 5.0 and going through the program setup in ECU. Got most of it sorted but have a few questions. The Drawing no. S17 is what I am going off , firstly I think this has been done for earlier ECU's and in the first row at the bottom its got dwell 3.0 but there is not straight dwell setup its a table.
The next is how do we go about setting up the Ref sensor filter and the Sync sensor filter, again there is no straight
setup but there are tables to configure.
I can get inconsistent spark with the dizzy out of engine and flicking it ,but once in the engine and rotating no spark at all.
If any one could help greatly appreciated, even if you have a complete start file with this info in.

For the dwell and filter tables, you can just input the same value in all of the cells. i.e. for the dwell table put 3.0 in all cells.

Then for trouble shooting I would suggest that you perform a "ref sync capture" during cranking (put your distributor back in to the engine first). You will find the ref sync capture program under the ultilities menu. To do this you want your laptop connected to the ECU and online, open the capture program and get someone to start cranking the engine, hit the 'capture' button during cranking and keep cranking for at least a few revolutions or until the capture finishes. Use the save function to name and save the capture file and then post it here. That should give us a good idea of what the problem is.
