M84 output to PI Data Logger

Hi there,
I'm considering updating my M48 to an M84, but need to know if I can replicate the data output to my old PI System 3+ data logger. Unfortunately it will only accept data through serial (no CAN) which I suspect may be an issue with the M84?
If not can I configure an M800 to use serial output?
thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,
The M84 does not send out any RS232 data I'm afraid.

I have the same setup... as the OP...
Will it work with the M800/880?? Will they be able to output RS232 data to the PI System 3+??

Hi Beven,
So currently you have a M48 streaming to the Pi Sys3? If so then the M800 sould be ok since that can send all of the same streams that the old M48 could.
Do you know what data set you are currently using in the M48?- recently the M84 firmware was changed so it does actually send out RS232 data now but it is locked to the "data set 1"

Hi Adam,
Apologies, I should have stated, Im currently using a M8 which outputs to my PI System 3+
I would like to use a M880 so I can use the DBW option... but at the same time I was hoping then that the M880 could still communicate with my PI System 3+ like my current M8 does...
Cheers,
Bevan

Hey Mark,
I thought RS232C data stream was being sent out from M84 firmware level 1.0N (or 1.1N?)...maybe "ADL set 3" from memory. It's a fixed set, and can't be changed, but better than nothing and suits most purposes (eg: rpm, tp, et, at, lambda, etc)
I know for the first years when released, M84 didn't send rs232, but a later software revision fixed that.....
Some of my cutomers were interested in this for their RaceTech loggers...i'm pretty sure they got it working, meaning RS232 is being output on the newest levels of M84 firware..
Will confirm with customers if you like...
Tyrone

This is correct. The M84 transmits RS232 as seen in release notes.
Version 1.10M2 Release - 16th December 2011
General Changes
RS232 now transmits ADL Dash Logger Set 1 at fixed rate of 19200 baud, 1 stop bit
