The only way that you could have any sort of DBW functionality with the M84, is if you had a completely stand alone DBW controller that output a variable analogue voltage output that was then wired into the M84 Throttle Position input. The M84 would then use this as a load input for the engine control. This would effectively be spoofing a normal cable throttle input into the M84.
There are a number of downsides to this, including a lack of ECU based DBW failsafes (i.e. Engine Speed Limiting on DBW faults), a non linear relationship between the throttle operation and the actual throttle as well as missing out on the usual benefits that come from the use of a DBW throttle.
I wouldn't do it, you sound to be trying to "reinvent the wheel" as such when it comes to the development work that you are doing, and would be better off doing the development work with an ECU that allows for the integration of the DBW functionality into the ECU Firmware.
