Channel Assignement

Postby insomnia on Sun Aug 28, 2011 10:49 am

I never want to use AV3 for Mass Air Flow, and AV6 for EGT. Any chance to rename the channel? Or are
these channels blocked only on this functions?
Any advice?
Thank you

You can assign any channel to pretty much anything you want

Adjust, Sensor Setup, Input setup, then open a channel to allow you to choose the input source.

There are various menus screens and options including your own "User" definable choices where you can give them whatever name you want. Not just the Engine section.

I was wondering the same thing as insomnia myself. I know that there are two channels under the other tab but I would also like to rename the sensors under the engine tab. I currently use MAF for steering wheel position. It's not a problem to resign these channels in i2, but it's still annoying that it's locked.

If you want to pay less for the ECU you have to put up with some limitations. If you want the full flexibilty of the M800 you have to bite the bullet and pay the extra cash.

Make sense, but 512kb and 100hz logging is locked enough.
What can i do with Mass Air Flow on a bike? and an EGT? For my use
i lost between 2 and 4 AV input....

There will never be any oportunity to change channel names in the M84, it is a replacement for the M4 and M48 and not a Hundred series ECU.

Compared to the M4 and M48 it is an extremely good thing, especially with Lambda and Logging thrown in.

I repeat....it is not a hundered series ECU....if you want all the fruit of a hundred series ECU, that's what you need to buy.

I think something that is not backwards compatible is not a replacement and the word similar is better suited. It will data log much less, not do password and not comunicate with the existing RS232 dash in the car. I think, well at least to me, the word replacement means I can remove a M48 and install a M84 and connect to all the existing devices and have the same information and features. I have lost a bunch of sales over this as clients wanted to update their M48 to a M84 but not lose features, it was many of them that have kept pointing out to me the word replacement is incorrect if it can not do what the old one does. Would you accept a replacement part for anything else that is not as functional as the original the other question posed to me as well.

In no way taking a jab at Motec but being candid at what I have run into in the field. Many of these are people are club racers and have limited upgrade budgets so changing everything all at once is very often a no go situation.
