Keep on it dude. The world needs more mad/daft ideas being brought to life.

If its any consolation my year has consisted of my engine builder dying, losing a lot of money and parts in the process, a number of the parts i got back being useless, a number of the parts i bought being useless, a cancer scare and now my grandad dying....roll on 2016!

And I thought my spring/summer was tough!

The project continues for sure! What I was saying though is I've purchased yet another ECU so now I have 3 on the shelf...and the M150 is most likely going on ebay not in the car. It's a great ECU but by the time I add all the options to make it fully functional its way outside my budget. I'll probably hold it as a backup option until I see what I have on the other path though.

Hi mk e,

Have you had a look at the latest GPR update? There's a lot more flexibility in there now. Some of your issues may have been resolved.

I didn't realize there was an new version. I just tried to have a look at it but I can't get it to open.....it says I have a corrupt file system old old version of M1 tune. I loaded the current release 1.04.0.0052 , same error.

Don't matter though.......I really can't really afford the fully functional version and lesser versions are missing stuff I'd planned on. I think I now have everything I need (120+ pins, user programmable package, 1khz logging,CAN everything, etc.) for less than the price of M1 the development license alone........but I'll keep the M150 just in case the "lesser" option sucks.

Sounds interesting!

What's the alternative you've managed to find?

I bought an AEM which isn't very good (at least not for my application), but appearently the FW/HW/Tuner were designed by enginelab.net so if you shoot them a note with your serial number they'll give you access to ELconsole (their version of M1Build) that lets you wipe the AEM stuff and put in whatever you please.

The downside is that currently the AEM model is locked so when you wipe what was there you start from scratch so it's a bit more science experiment than solution at the moment but I'm told an open, editable generic model (package) is coming soon along with a few upgrades. The motec stuff is more refined for sure, but enginelab seems to have everything I need and is easier to program for those of us who aren't exactly fluent in "C" and it has a simulator so you can quickly test most things on the PC before you send anything thing to the ECU.

We'll see. I've got a model about 2/3 done I think so hopefully it will be ready to go by the time the engine is done......if not the M150 goes on I guess.

Have you tried using M1 Build? It's a reasonable amount "dumbed down" from straight C, you might be able to manage.

I don't think the upgrade from GPR to Build is very expensive, and you get to start with all of the GPR code.

I've looked at it and it doesn't look too bad to learn, but I've not written anything in it. I don't own the GPR package, just the M150 so access to build is $2500 I think it is then I still need to buy the logging license....another $1500? Very nice but a lot of money so it's the back-up plan.

The enginelab language is almost too simple that it makes simple things harder than they should be. I'm just starting to run/debug the actual engine control part of the model now and it's going pretty smoothly so far. Tomorrow hope fully I'll start testing the code for all the fuel enrichments.....I particularly want to see if accel/decel correction is doing what I think it should be doing. Then I need to add DBW, fuel pump and cooling fan and I think I have everything I need to get the engine running....except an engine that is actually ready to run that is

I'm finally back to the ferrari.

The mufflers are not connected and I'm starting to add the O2 bungs...all 4 of 14 are done and don't look too bad. I still need springs at all the slip connections then once all the weld is done I want to do a final trim on the tips and polish them up.
