Which ECU choose for Mazda 13B 1.3l turbo 1989

Postby Ranger_2000 on Wed Mar 06, 2024 9:18 pm

Hello,
I am trying to find a better ECU to run my 13B turbo rotary engine in research purpose for my university. I currently have a M84 but this one has many flaws:
- It doesn't control the oil metering pump system
- it does not control any throttle valve (we are tuning it with a throttle valve that can be managed by a control panel)
- it does not respond very correctly to second injections

What ECU can you propose to correct these flaws but also still manage to run a turbo rotary engine ? Also, does it that long to buy one ? Because I have some deadline until Mai ...

Thank you very much !

We have a rotary specific firmware package for the M1 ECUs which is available for both large and small ECUs in plastic connector or autosport.

You can see more about GPR Rotary on the website at the link below:
https://www.motec.com.au/products/GPR%20Rotary?catId=15

Which ECU is best for you will depend on how much I/O you require and if you need autosport connectors. The M130 would be the most similar to the M84 you currently have an may only need basic repinning to suit your existing wiring

Hi,

The attached excel spreadsheet outlines the changes between the M84 and M130 wiring. You will also need to purchase an LTC to get Lambda into the M1.

Thank you very much for the responses. What is the GPR rotary package price ? And without it is it possible to tune the M130 for my rotary engine ? I am a little bit lost with how the package works.
Thank you :)

I would recommend reaching out to your local dealer for pricing so they can ensure you get all the items you need included.

The M1 ECUs are a sold as hardware and a separate firmware package which defines the specific feature set.

Being that piston engine and rotary engines operating principles are quite different this meant offering a separate rotary engine firmware package made more sense.

If you like you can download GPR Rotary from moteconline.motec.com.au and take a look at it in M1 Tune.
