Dual intake engines

Postby Martin on Thu Mar 05, 2009 8:10 am

Hi,

Ive got an interesting question....

If you have a V engine and you separate the 2 banks as far as inlet goes and you have an M800......(having 1 throttle per bank)

1. Would you exclude MAP comp/measurement completely?

2. Would you T the MAP sensor to read the avg of the 2 banks?

3. Would you Run 2 Map sensors each feeding into the INDV fuel tables to trim from MAP reading for the individual banks? (cylinders)

I presume that you are talking about a NA engine and the load axis for the fuel table is TP.

Provided that you have enough lambda sensors, I would just use one MAP sensor connected to both banks and do the individual fuel trim based on the readings from each lambda sensor.

Does this engine have an idle control setup? You could do individual MAP compensation using the individual cylinder tables. Also how are the throttles syncronised?

Throttles driven by DBW4, 2 inlets coupled via 3mm`ish ID hose to balance during idling.
The engine is a standard VQ35HR (symertrical dual intake VQ35)

On OEM engine both buttterflies have their own MAF sensor and is also separate before the butterfly. Im thinking of losing the MAF sensors and run 2 MAP sensors....any suggestions?
