Accel/Decel comps

Postby jlangholzj on Thu Jun 28, 2012 12:57 pm

Well I've been able to finally get some great data from tracks and testing WHR'12 (especially at comp) I've been playing around with the accel/decel comps to make this girl more drivable and get some better response out. First i've got a few general questions and then I'll throw up some track data and ask a few questions there.

first, sensitivity is a multiplier of the clamp value if i understand correctly. So if I adjust out the sensitivity there should be more/less response to the clamp table? (when you're not going straight to WOT or off throttle)

Also most of the examples I've been able to find through the Motec documentation shows motors that I'm assuming are a relatively "low" reving motor. (in comparison to our R6 that redlines around 15,000) So my next question is where exactly should the accel/decel values taper off? I'm assuming its just going to be testing and more data to see if the throttle gets stabbed/let off up at 9-10K if there's a noticeable showing on the lambda or not.

anyway, here's some data and a few things I've inferred from it.

RPM is maroon
TPS is blue
Lambda is teal

the first one here is a capture from our data before comp at a local auto X event

to me it looked like lambda was really getting rich after the throttle blip to shift gears telling me the decel comps weren't quite right and then it would also go lean once the throttle was opened back up, showing that the accel comps were not set correctly.

I made some changes and this next capture is from the autoX course at FSAEL during competition.

what I got from this is that my decel comps are better...but not quite perfect yet. It doesn't dip real lean after the blip but it it will a little bit, so i should increase my clamp. Also after the throttle is re-applied there's a big dip in my lambda, then a big spike. This leads me to believe that my accel comps are actually a little rich but also that I'm taking too much away too fast. So i should decrease my acceleration decrease percentage some.

am I kinda on the right track??? First time with DaQ and its pretty sweet all the different stuff you can look at. The car ran strong and never super leaned out/richened out or anything but there obviously is a little room for improvement. The little bit I have done has made the throttle much more functional down low and has obviously made our drive-ability better!

anything else i should be looking at for further tuning? This was analyzed in Race studio 2 just because I was looking at some g-forces and other things but I've got data somewhere in I2 as well.
