Pro tunners, what do you do when...

As a pure amateur and mostly for fun, I installed Motec ecus on my mate's bike and on mine.
I was requested to install and tune a car for a friend's customer. My friend is a pro, but is not able to setup electronics. I was paid for this and the setup was clean and the car runs well, proven by lots of datalogs. The motor build was also very good. We are all sure we did everything as it should be and the customer was happy.

After some races with medium results due to drivers being faster  , the customer was told by others that "his car could be better, faster, motor should be rebuild and remapped, blabla".

If this car go to another builder, it is clear for me I am not responsible anymore of what will append after this rebuild. It is clear also I would not work anymore on the new setup to improve it, add options, etc....to avoid problems with new tuner.

My question to you, pro builders, tuners and so on: what do you usualy do in this situation?

Thanks for your kind advises

Angelo

I'm not a pro, but I would get one of these "others" to produce a dyno report for Blabla. There is no arguing with hard evidence. This may also encourage the driver to seek tuition in order to improve.

Unfortunately there will always be people who believe only what they want to hear.

That isnt to say improvements couldnt be made. But a rebuild does sound a bit extreme.

Ive come across plenty of idiots who have been sucked in by such talk, and it has usually cost them thousands and they have ended up with either a much slower car, or one that has never run again.
It isnt nice to see, but some people almost deserve it through their own stupidity.

If he is determined to go elsewhere, just let him. You may get even more work repairing damage caused by others, which does happen a lot.
