Hello guys !
I´ve set rev limiters in a High performance racing cars during last 10 years by this way (without any problem and safe)
Just ignition cut + 200rpm hysteresis .. it´s very important at 9000RPM (for example) to feed the engine to "refresh" combustion chamber.
That´s my experience, maybe could help you !.
