Thanks Steve.

I don't believe there is any vacuum leak and I think the rpm hang(comes down a bit slower) between gear has to do to the fact that I don't have IAC and my throttle is NEVER fully close when my foot is off the pedal. Due to the fact that I can't control how much air still get pull into the engine, I think the fuel cut method is the only way around this.

I'll give it a try over the weekend and report back.

Is there a webinar on strategy for this?

I would think that you will need an addition throttle position cell just off of 'closed' to avoid the car kangarooing.
And maybe it is possible to use the throttle's closing velocity to aid in whether you cut fuel, retard ign, or stay at a high idle for smooth traffic driving...??

Overrun fuel cut is an independent feature, same as any ecu. There is no reason for there to be any problems. If the turn on point does happen to coincide with an rpm you see in a lot of slow driving, just change it to a slightly different rpm.

I was thinking more for crawling around in traffic.
So I would think something like this:
RPM
TP%> 0 1 2 ...
500 10 10 11
1000 10 10 11
2000 10 10 11
2500 5 10 11
3000 0 10 11
4000 0 10 12

Obviously the numbers would be real, but something to avoid lurching when going on/off throttle.
Easier on a race car where there is less need for behaved throttle at partial throttle.

It is something I am interested in,, and more of a question than a statement..

Same with any ecu.

You set the desired fuel cut off point.

This will be at closed throttle only, and above a certain rpm. Generally they will say 2-400rpm above idle, but it's entirely up to you, and on some cars you will want it higher because of low speed rpm/driving, and also maybe higher depending how good/bad idle control is.

You also set the throttle position restore point. Usually 1% above closed throttle. So the instant you touch the pedal, normal operation is resumed.

So really, you should be able to set it up to have no negative impact on driving...well, same as OEM's do.
