During testing for a recent long distance race, Gary Watson of Watson's Trimming and Marine in Lismore, propelled his modified FZR to an astonishing 86.4 MPH. It was only the second water test since Gary had assembled the craft.
Gary runs the MoTeC M400 ECU along with an R&D C5 supercharger and Monster intercooler. An R&D fuel pressure regulator lifts the fuel pressure to an otherwise standard engine. Riva supplied the air filter and straight through exhaust and Gary himself modified the ride plate for the test.
The speed was so high that it bent the standard FZR intake grate. Unfortunately, no alternative was available at the time, so for safety reasons, Gary was unable to continue testing.
