Yamaha 400 HP Turbo Kit Development

Postby PeteS on Thu Jan 29, 2009 1:52 pm

Hi All
Just a quick note to say we have started on the turbo path for the SHO
Have made a Jacketed manifold to go to the turbo and sorting injectors and rails currently.
Attached is a couple of mock up pics.
Hope to be runing it on the dyno next week, engine still standard at this point so we will be taking it slow.
Our aim will be to have the kit or drawings etc of parts required, available through our dealer network, along with the ECU and loom of cource

Hi
Turbo is one of many we have lined up, this one off a Rally car engine, not ball bearing to my knowledge, we will test and see its boost spread and total HP flow on the SHO.
Your right, I am a long way from installed ski issues, although all hardware is being made so that it will bolt straight in and we will try to keep under seat heat to a minumum.
Will keep you in the loop.

Cheers

The Turbo you mean?
Not worried about water cooling the turbo core at this point but will look into the complexity of that once we are confirmed on a suitable brand and size etc
Certainly all exhaust manifolds and exit pipes will be water jacketed and we will probably run a turbo heatsheild bag with maybe some HPC coating for the Exhaust housing.
Will test in the ski and see what issues arise.
