i2 Pro Work Space - Drag vs Circuit

Just upgraded to Pro :D

Just spent a few days setting up lots of worksheets under a Drag Workspace only to find that options like GPS track are only available in a circuit template.

Q.

- What are the fundamental differences between the different workspaces?
- Why are some options like GPS track not available in the drag workspace?
I had assumed with Pro i could just do anything :)

- whats the best way to do it ;)

We are running a Land speed vehicle so having things like a GPS track report to see when we changed gear on the course etc could be helpful.

As always thanks for your help and support we really appreciate it

I would just use the circuit workspace. Usually I don't even need to trim runs, Since we don't move after we've fired up the engine until we are headed down course.

But you can use both. Switch back and forth as needed.

The core workspaces each contain different pre embedded maths and features that are tailored or restricted based on the type of logging you are reviewing. For instance:

- Engine project - has no corrected time or distance functionality (will be greyed out)
- Rally project - Has GPS, track mapping etc, but uses a stage marker system where transport stages, active stages and stage markers are featured - but some lap timing functionality doesn't exist
- Circuit project - The most flexible workspace that works for most people. features lap timing, GPS map and other features. Unless specifically reviewing rally or drag racing data the most versatile base for workspaces.
- Drag project - Has specific calculations for and sector report layouts for time and speed outputs commonly found on a drag pass timeslip for easy break down of the data.

Your layouts are very quickly and easily moved from one project type to another. Right click next to your last worksheet tab and select layout editor. From here you and click on the workbook from the workspace and export it using the export button. Close your workspace, start a new circuit one, access the layout editor again and import your workspace.

The same can be done with any maths calculations that you may have done through the maths section (ctrl + M)

Thank you both very helpful

It seems the ability to export and import from Drag to circuit isn't allowed but no issues.

I will spend some time and set up all my tabs in a Circuit profile

Many thanks
