Log file format

Hi all,
I am logging some data on a custom board, which cannot be connected to the data logger. I would like to write a log file in the i2pro ld format, to be able to view it along the rest of my data.
Is the file format documented somewhere, or is it possible get an idea of how to do it ?
Best regards,
Alain

Alain - Is there no way to output the data from your board onto CAN or as analogue levels ,or get it out on RS232?

I can't see MoTeC giving you their proprietary ld file format as it will enable you to break the i2 product license which states:

LICENSE
MoTeC hereby gives you a non-exclusive license to use the software i2 Pro in conjunction with data generated by any MoTeC logging device, or that generated by MoTeC licensed 3rd party software. i2 Pro may not be used in conjunction with data generated either directly or indirectly by non MoTeC products unless that product has been licensed by MoTeC.

What are the other devices that cannot be attached to the data logger (which data logger is that ?)

Holmz, Turby,

Thanks for your replies.
I cannot afford a wire to the part we're working on, so no CAN, nor RS232 is possible.
Moreover, logging will not be needed in the final products, so we can opt it out.

However we need to correlate acceleration and speed, with the temperature of this device.

It would just be soooo nice, to be able to load it along the other data.

Maybe another way around this, would be a feature where we can load foreign data into I2Pro, but I'm not aware of any convenient way to do it.

Any way, thank you.
Alain

It would be great if there were some sort of license from Motec to do that.
This would be analogous to having Apple license Mac OS X to run on a PC. They could do it, but they are a hardware provider more than a S/W provider.
Motec is a hardware provider.

I am assuming that you are doing R&D.
You mention that you cannot afford a wire to the device...
Is this because the device is not near the datalogger?
Maybe you can go wireless to the device, and then bring that in through the RS232?

Whatever it is it sounds interesting (what is it?)

Turby is right, we do not give out our ld file format. For you to create files in that format and use i2 would be in breach of the licence agreement which you agree to when you install i2.

We are looking at making available the purchase of licence keys to allow import of other file formats into i2 without the need for motec hardware. At present, this is not done, and as such we would suggest that you see how you go with another provider of analysis software.
