Corrected Speed

Postby mangel83 on Sun Nov 23, 2008 10:19 am

I go to the corrected speed tab to change the way the corrected speed is calculated and no matter how I set it, it always uses the GPS Speed for the calculation.

i.e.
I check the first box "Use the fastest value if both channel exist" and I select both Front Wheel Speeds (left & right), and I left unchecked the other 2 boxes (Use the first available from, use the GPS speed). I then click OK and when I plot corrected speed channel it's the same as GPS speed.

I restarted i2 and then my computer and the problem persists.

I'm using i2 Pro 1.03.0106

Hello Manuel,
Where are you getting your wheel speed channels from? Just check the channel units in the log file in I2. When you get a channel generated from an ECU it comes across as Unitless.

If your wheel speed channel units are not in Km/h you can use the Channel Mapping feature in the Tools menu to create a new channel with the correct units.

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your answer, but the problem persists.

As you say the wheel speeds come from the ECU (M400) and they come unitless. However, since I did not know about the Channel Mapping Feature I created Math Channels just to add the units to the speed channels. i.e. I added a new expression that consists of only the logged speed and as resultant units for the expression I entered km/h.

I tried using these math channels to calculate the corrected speed with no luck, then I tried as you suggested with Channel Mapping, which I guess is more or less the same, and nothing. I also tried averaging the front wheel speeds, and the 4 wheel speeds and nothing. It always uses the GPS speed for corrected speed calculation.

Any other suggestion? I am willing to send log files, projects, etc. as long those are kept confidential.

I tried in a different computer and the problem remains, I tried an earlier version of the software in another computer and it worked ok. Is this a version problem? Do you expect to fix it anytime soon?

I discovered this is a project related problem. I opened the same data file but using a different project and I was able to switch between channels used for corrected speed calculation without any trouble.

What could possibly be wrong with my project that doesn't allow me to change this? Any ideas?
