Math Constants

Postby mangel83 on Fri Oct 24, 2008 6:49 am

When trying to save constants to use with my math channels, the software won't allow me to save decimal values i.e. gravity: 9.81; it shows the following error: "The value have invalid character(s) at the end." I tried using period (.) and comma (,) but without luck. So I went to the XML file where the constants are stored and edited it directly. Now the constants appear complete with the decimal values, but it doesn't take it into account when processing math channels; i.e it takes gravity which is stored as 9.81, just as 9.

Any help on this issue?

Hi Manuel,

Can you tell me which version of i2 you are using in Help|About Motec i2 ?
Also can you tell me which version of windows you have and what your windows 'Regional and Language' settings are in the control panel?

Thanks,

Manuel,

I see your problem, and it has to do with having ',' decimal point and '.' thousand separator. In your Regional and language settings if you change to '.' decimal point and ',' thousand separator it will work. I will endeavour to have the problem fix.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Hi Darren,

Thanks for your help. Effectively that fixed the problem, but it would be great if i2 could be used without altering the standard regional and language settings for South America.

Hi

I'm relatively new to the Motec software but after nearly 4 years I have the same problem.
I have Polish (pl) locale and I'm unable to enter comma values to constants in maths. i2Pro won't accpet "," as a decimal separator. If i switch to have "." as decimal separator it works but it's no solution for me.

i2 Pro:
1.18.0017

Is there any chance to fix it ?

Greetings.

Hi Davvid

There is a workaround.

You can create a "setup-sheet" for your car and make an entry in that one for the math constant that you need to use. It works fine with decimals.
