NEW TO Motec range of analysis softwares!!

Postby anandrs on Wed Jun 10, 2026 3:25 pm

Hello people,
My name is Anand r.s, unlike most of the members here I am just in the process of knowing my way around i2 pro and standard back to back, and right now I am interned for a one make championship series based in Europe, and this is where I have this task to analyse all the 20 car's data and make sure they all have a fair and square competition in other words I am assigned to make sure they're not cheating throughout the racing series, as the teams own the car we simply cannot omit the chances for this.
if you guys have any ways to approch this let me know here.
Thanks alot. <3

Hi Anand,

Policing a series like this can be complicated, especially if you do not have full control over the vehicles.

The starting point would be to determine what values you are looking at to determine equality through the vehicles, some examples are Engine Speed, Vehicle Speed, Inlet Manifold Pressure (Boost Pressure if forced induction) Fuel Pressure, Injector Pulse Width and Ignition Timing, as well as vehicle performance data like acceleration sensors.

Once you have this information, you can configure i2 to to have specific Worksheets (I recommend i2 Pro for this, with the Open Standard Log Files activation so that you can open Standard and Pro logfiles in the same program) that can flag instances where the logged data exceeds your set parameters.

Thanks for your insights friend.
from what I understood from your thoughts, initially i would decide on what values for each channels can be normal and abnormal(like finding min and max for the channels I am looking at; or is it something else you meant?)
and once I have decided on those values I will create a worksheet(but this can all be in standard since I do not have liscense for pro).
but the real problem is when I have to go through each every channels on all the 20 cars in all laps to check for instances of this overshooting.
so do we have any feature in these SW to preset these values so whenever any of those cars exceeded the limits it will tell me.
Also another questing not relavant to this.
I have heard that it is possible to make rainbow layout of your racing line around the track can you tell me how it can be done?
thanks

Thanks for your insights friend.
from what i understood initially you wanted me to decide on values for each channles which I am gonna take into account(in other words min and max values for each channels to decide whether a certain channels is usual or unusual).
I was also thinking if we could find the relationship between each channels with respect to other or in other senario for example in a single channel's case if I were to find out the relationship between absolute boost and target boost and derive a mathematical equation or something as sort then it is easy if we had any function to implement what I have found and analyse those channels according to the rules I input in it(which also refers what I have mentioned in 1.1).
then make a worksheet with all the channels which I needed to analyse but the real problem is to find where those channel's values overshoot from our region and doing this for all the channels and all the laps in all the 20 cars can be tiresome
1.1) is there any function inside the SW to preset the values so the program tells me if a ceratain car in a certain place is exceeded the limits? or how can I simplify this?(FYI I use motec standard so it would be nice if you can tell me how to do it there)
and another equiry which is not relavant to this topic
* I have heard that it is possible to generate a rainbow racing line around the track with time lost or gained or in other circumstances with regards to the parametres we wanted, and I find it very useful
can you tell me how set it?
