i2 closes when error messages from windows

Postby FoxPerformance on Wed Oct 31, 2012 6:21 am

when i open i2, windows gives me a popup that says i2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. then asks if i'd like to send a error report.

when I say "send" or "dont send" the error report, i2 then closes automatically.

I have tried repeatedly to uninstall and reinstall i2 completely... i have even deleted it from the system registry files.

I have uninstalled if from windows "add/remove" programs in control panel, and I have uninstalled it from using the i2 install software. I have restarted my computer everytime after uninstalling and deleteing if from the registry.

once it installs i try to open it and get the same error reporting message and it closes itself.

I found the error reporting document and this is what it says:

Hi,

Was i2 working prior to this? Or did the problem occur the first time you opened it?

I will need to know what operating system you are running? Including the system type (32 or 64bit)

The only time I have seen this is when there was a problem during installation caused by the windows User Account Control Settings (Windows Vista/7). Try either with these disabled or when installing, instead of just double clicking the install file, right click and select "Install as administrator"

it was working properly, I have been using it for months now.

its on a XP

what happened was, i turned on my computer and the desktop came up and i double clicked i2 pro, so i could open it. well everything was loaded yet, and windows was still booting other applications and programs that normally are loaded at startup. so i2 kinda got stuck in between this for a minute, then once everything was looaded and running, i2 then tried to open up and start then it started giving me the error messages and shutting itself down.

I just tried doing a uninstall and install as a "administrator" and still come up with the same problem.

I have not been able to replicate this so far, can you please tell me, when you say you have deleted it from the registry... exactly what are you deleting?

I'll need to find out a bit more, so to speed things up, please email me at matt.weston@motec.com.au

Ive been having further issues

Previously i2 standard would not open on my W7U 64 bit machine.

I uninstalled it completely using iobit software ( also have their advanced care installed )

Now the i2 wont even re-install.

It comes up error 1719 on Windows, to do with the installer package. I have tried another piece of software, and it installed, so dont think it is Windows itself that's the problem.

Oddly on my XP laptop I also installed the iobit advanced system care....i2 standard has stopped opening on it too.

Obviously after installing, I let the iobit software do it's checks and "repairs" automatically. It seems to be interfering somehow.

The advanced system care should not be interfering with i2's standard operation (I have the same software running on all of my machines) It does, create a system restore point before it performs an uninstall (unless you cancelled the operation) Have you tried restoring?

Have you tried re-downloading i2 from the motec website? (to ensure the install file has not become corrupt somehow)

What antivirus software are you running?

It was just a thought as the common denominator between both machines and installed around similar times i2 stopped working. Although it hasnt worked on this home machine for months now.
Certainly on this W7U 64 bit there isnt any restore points far enough back.

There could be on my laptop though. I did try downloading it again, and just now also using an older version I had on my computer.

It goes to the click EULA agreement, then onto the next window. Once you click next there, that's when it stops with Error 1719.

Ive tried all the various "fixes" I could find online, none make any difference

Error 1719 is a windows error.
Have you tried re-installing the windows installer service?
I would suggest following instructions found on the Microsoft support site
