i2 wont open ? W7U 64 bit

Postby stevieturbo on Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:06 am

Previously it was working.

Although this problem occurred before, and I re-installed and it worked again.

Now it isnt working again.

W7U 64 bit. Try to open the program both from desktop shortcut and directly from program files/motec and nothing at all happens.

Any ideas ?

Tried different compatibility modes and still nothing.

We all use Win7 64-bit laptops with no issues, have you tried holding shift and right clicking on the shortcut so you can run it as administrator. Most of the time corruption to project files occur when the battery on your laptop is drained while i2 is open, do you think this is what might have happened? Is it both i2 standard and pro that are not working?

This is my home PC which is the W7U 64bit machine

On my laptop and other computers with XP it works fine.

I have tried various compatibility modes, and I have installed as run as admin etc. Still no difference. Also tried to open the program as run as admin.
Another user did PM me a while back saying a file needs to be deleted to make it work, although he never alluded to which file this was.

It doesnt even register in task manager as trying to open. That's either via the desktop shortcut or the actual program in the Motec folder.

Try the latest versions of i2 Pro and i2 standard otherwise we will have to remote desktop to your PC to work out why it is not running.

I bumped the post because I did just download the very latest version and try it. It's exactly the same as the previous version.

Ive tried completely uninstalling etc too. Havent tried i2pro though as have no files I can use with it. Only i2 standard.

I've been researching your problem on the Microsoft website, is it only the MoTeC i2 Software that won't open, I wonder if a system restore to previous time would help.

The i2 software is the only thing Ive experienced a problem with.

System restore would need to go back months, as it really only ever did work 2-3 times after I first installed it several months ago or more.

Although in saying that....there is another ecu software which doesnt open correctly, although it's because it's doing something strange with network connections.

As I say, another user did PM me saying a file on the computer needed to be removed. But he never stated what, and hasnt communicated since.

Have you been installing it as an administrator (ie running the install application using the right click - run as administrator option)?

this can make a difference
