What would be a good (or the best) MAP sensor (5 bar) for an Evolution 7 in combination with a MoTeC M800 ECU, we're having some strange problems with a 3 bar MAP sensor on this car, this question is related to this topic

Thanks for any help...

It depends on how much boost you want. Using the TI 5 bar MAP sensor might be a good idea if you are hitting for 2 bar + of boost. The problem you have mentioned in your previous post might be due to wiring problems. And, I have also seen Delco MAP sensors failing before. Best bet would be wiring issues.
I have done EVO8s with TI 5 bar MAP running 2.8 bar of boost without any issues at all.

Thanks TK!
I'm the driver not the mapper, but do I understand correctly that a 3 bar MAP sensor is no good if you boost 2 bar +?
We're planning to boost @ about 2.1 bar with peaks to 2.3 I guess, can a 3 bar MAP sensor handle that or not?
Thanks again for any reply...

Although this is can done, but I don't encourage it. A 3 bar MAP sensor will read 1 bar vac and 2 bar boost. Running the MAP sensor above it's operating limit will result in the ECU not knowing about the additional boost pressure. In short, the ECU will think and behave the same for the boost pressures of 2.0 bar and 2.5 bar. This will be highly dangerous. Best thing is to invest in a TI 5 bar MAP sensor but the installation of this sensor is slightly more difficult. The sensor comes with 1/8 NPT thread (if I remember correctly) instead of a nipple for the vac hose.

Thanks again TK!
Do you happen to know where to order such a MAP sensor, I live in the Netherlands...
What's the full name off it, i.e. TI stands for?
Thanks,
Ben
