DBW4-software-update

Postby Lip on Tue Dec 23, 2008 2:48 am

Dear motec experts,

some time ago I bought a DBW4-box thinking I could use it for controlling 4 different servo motors.
My information is that in connection with a MX00 ecu it is possible to controll 1 servo motor only.

My question is whether or when there will be a software-update which makes it possible to controll 4 different servo motors in connection with a MX00 ecu and also to use the DBW4 in connection with the can/usb-adapter.

Thanks Philipp

The DBW4 is capable of running 4 servo motors but the M800 software doesn't have the necessary parameters to do this. Can you tell me what you are wanting to use it for? Also what other MoTeC hardware is installed?

We have a version of DBW4 Manager which can be used with a UTC. This is a Beta release at the moment but we should be able to release this soon. If you need this urgently let me know.

Dear RoosB,
thanks for answering. I have a M800 installed and would like to controll some servo motors on basis of RPM, TPS .. . E.g. to controll a throttle in the interference pipe (is it called like that?) or variable inlet runners or a "negative DBW", a servo motor that limits TPS to a preset value for easier tuning etc.

"Urgently" is an elastic word. But NO, I don´t need this urgently because I just use it for my own fun.
But I would like to know if and when this will possible because than I would beginn to build the hardware.

Thanks & best Regards Philipp

Ross I was led to believe the same thing.
Just to clarify what you said, can a DBW4 when attatched to an Mxx0 only drive 1 servo motor or will it drive upto 4 servo motors to the same possition for DBW???

If the M800 software doesn't have the necessary parameters to do this, does say an ADL2 have the abillity to drive 4 different servo motors to different possitions using a DBW4???

If so can more than 1 DBW4 unit be connected to the CAN BUS???

That is correct, you could run up to 4 servo motors to the same position or up to 4 DBW Motors.

It is possible to control 4 independant servo motors using an ADL2 although this is complicated to configure. You can only have 1 DBW4 on the CAN Bus.

Hi RossB,

thanks for reply. But again: Does motec has any plans in updating/upgrading the M800 software in order to be able to run 4 different servo motors? And if so: when are you planing to release such a software?

Thanks Philipp

There are no plans for changes in the M800 Software at this stage.

Uuups,
in consideration of your advertising

# Drives up to four separate motors
# Compatible with 'hundred series' ECUs

this information is hardly comprehensible for me.
