ref/sync problem in evo 8

Hi
I have a problem starting my evo 8 with the m800 plugin ecu. I get the ref/sync syncronised NOT SYNCED error during crank. No other errors just this one. The error doesn't go away even during longer cranking when I press "enter". I know the hall sensors are fine and the wire loom is fine too because the cars starts without a problem on another aftermarket ECU that I have. I did output tests for injectors and ignition outputs. That looks good too. Do you guys know what can be causing the permanent ref/sync error? I took the ref/sync settings from the the base map for evo 8.

Does the engine run ok, and can you clear the error once it is running ?

The engine doesn't start on the m800. I just found out that the m800 doesn't see any RPM during cranking that's probably why it can't sync . But like I said on the other ECU the car starts up fine and runs smoothly so the wireing and sensors must be ok. The other ecu is also a plug and play. Pins 88 and 89 are in their stock location in the wire loom plug. I also loaded the evo 8 base map to the m800 just to check if maybe I got any of the ref/sync settings wrong in my file. But same problem on the base map. Still 0 RPM. Any ideas?

Sounds like the basic sensors and wiring must be OK.
So if it is not the the wrong wiring to the pins, then could it that the ECU has the wrong parameters?
Would it have started out without the CAM sensor working on the other ECU?

I would probably try to get the traces out of the ECU.
It is in one of the webinars as to how to do that.

Hi,

I just got exactly the same problem with this but this time with Evo 9.
Can you inform me the solution for this problem ?

If you do not see the signal in the ECU then start working from either the sensor or the ECU towards the other. (I start at the sensor)
Volt meter - for contninueity
oscilloscope - for signals

If the signal is present at the pin of the ECU then it is either the wrong pin or the ECU needs the trigger/threshold values corrected.

Post a screenshot of a ref/sync capture.

Hi Holmz,

Do you think change with a brand new sensor will be a good start ?

Upload the ref/sync capture.

The screenshot only shows a very small part of the signal.
