2002 STI 7 Idle

Anyone have any base settings to try or a base map for v3.5 software

Struggling to get a nice idle hot or cold. Was originally on V2.3 software although did upgrade to v3.5 ages ago.

No idea if idle settings would transfer across properly in that process ? Car doesnt get much usage so have never really bothered about it too much. But would like to get it sorted.

Hi, the PID for the idle control does not upgrade from 2.3 to 3.5 as the scaling is different. You basically need to re-do it.

Would you have a base map for this car in v3.5 ?

Also emailed you a few days ago about the pinout schedule for the m800 pnp, with details of the board etc.

Not really anything that has been done here that i could say would be better than just doing it yourself.

Is the engine modified? What with?

2.35, rotated turbo, Jun 272 cams ( no AVCS ) etc

OK, one brief query.

The current imported map has the PID settings as decimals. ie

1.10
0.030
0.02

Should these be values as low as this, or are they totally and utterly wrong ?

help file doesnt give any information at all.

Should I expect to be using full whole numbers here, or very small decimals like that currently there ?

The numbers can be very small, so they do not seem wrong at all.

If the engine has a bigger set of cams then you are going to have an interesting time any way. I would start by warming the car up. Next request something like 100RPM as an idle aim which will shut the idle valve completely...then you unplug it. With the engine warm you should adjust the idle by pass screw until the warm RPM is about 50-100RPM below where you ultimately want it. The bigger cams will usually mean you need a higher idle RPM.

With the idel bypass screww set and the idle stepper unplugged you need to tune the fuel and ignition to give a nice stable idle.

You need to get everything for the warm idle before you turn on the closed loop idle control. If the engin idles badly with no idle control, turning on an idle function will make it worse. Idle control is not there to smooth out a rough idle.

Also, never use any Integral gain with a stepper motor.

The ISCV on a STI7 should not be a stepper motor.
