Cam control - cam or crank degrees?!

Postby mrsaturn7085 on Thu May 26, 2016 5:03 pm

Are the values for Cam Pos (L/R, In/Ex) in crankshaft degrees...? I was fighting with the cam offset all evening on an 04-06 USDM EJ257. The cams have physical stops at 25 deg advance (cam) but I was reading a range of 0-50 deg through some duty cycle testing. Unless I have some sensor settings messed up, I think I've answered my own question on this part... but wouldn't mind some confirmation.

Secondly... if the cam pos sensor readings are indeed in crankshaft degrees, what values should I be using for my cam target tables... camshaft or crankshaft degrees?

It is crankshaft degrees that is used, as you are moving the cams position in relation to the crank.
