No intercooler water spray - Subaru N12b M800 OEM WRX78

Postby chiraoka on Fri Aug 29, 2008 4:20 am

Hello,
Have a problem with the following car:
MY 2007 STi SPEC C JDM version / Actually it is a N12b rally car (group N4 32mm restrictor)
The car came with INMOBILIZER, no automatic water spray, no A/C and manual water spray.
Have fitted a M800 WRX78 OEM board.
Cannot get the OEM spray injector to work ..... have already used the INJ 5 output and it doesn't seem to work when using OUTPUT TESTING.

I fitted a automatic water spray oem switch since the wiring loom was there, so just plugged it in and could get the M800 OEM ECU to change between ORB modes. But had no luck with the water spray.

Any suggestions ?

Cheers,

Hello Carlos,
If the car was not equipped with automatic spray bars the intercooler water spray system will not be connected to the ECU INJ5 output (Pin B11). The manual water spray system is activated by a switch and a timer/relay unit which switches the power to the water spray motor. You would need to make modifications to the wiring if you want this to be controlled by the ECU.

Ross thax for the reply.

How can I test that the E11 or INJ5 pin is actually working ?, I installed a wire to the pin that allegedly was INJ 5 but when using a multimeter I could not get the output to send 0v. Or should I use something like this:

You should be able to test it with either a multi-meter or a test light (LED type) If you connect to battery positive the light should come on or the meter should show battery voltage when the output is active.
