On the IGN4 datasheet it says for use of coils with a primary resistance higher than 1 Ohm....on our stock Mitsubishi coils #F6T568 primary resistance is from .85-1.15ohms. Would this cause any performance issues?

Hi I have a few quick questions about the wiring of the IGN 4 with our coils. The 2 ground terminals on the 6 pin connecter that go to the ignition coil outputs would go to just an engine ground correct? So we also run a PDM 15 as well on our FSAE car. So from what I can tell does the IGN 4 act as a ground switch through the ECU since the coils need a 12v supply? If so could the PDM be configured to take an input from the main power switch so once the PDM sees an input from the main power switch it would send power to the ignition system?

Hi Ryan,

The IGN4 Ground pins preferably go to the ECU Ground point.

The IGN 4 acts as a trigger for the coils, and provides a high current (40mA) signal to the coil to get it to Dwell. It is not a voltage supply for the coils.

That is one way to wire the coils, the preferred way to do it would be to have a separate ignition switch that controls the coils (and injectors if desired) so that the vehicle can be powered from the main switch, and the coils and injectors are only powered when you want the engine to run. This also provides protection to the coils from being over dwelled.

Hi, I got my M130 reading camshaft and crankshaft sensor signals while cranking the engine on the dyno. Our engine is out of a 2009 Yamaha R6. I am just curious if I have the sensors correctly configured in M1 Tune. The only thing I am not sure on is the Engine Speed Reference Offset. I have our configuration attached along with an input capture and snipshot of the engine while it was cranking. I have a scope snipshot of the crankshaft position sensor when the engine was running in the bike as well. On the input capture the cam signal comes in well but the crank wave is hard to make out since im assuming since the engine is in a cranking state it's hard to get a consistent wave.

Hi,

I have changed the settings for the Reference and Sync sensors to suit the Input Capture, can you test this thanks.

Your Reference Offset will need to be adjusted to suit the changes.
