Datasheet for sensor 57102 ...

Hi,

Ive been trying to locate a data sheet for the 57102 hall effect sensor but havent had any luck. I need to know the temp operating range, as i want to mount the sensor through the front of an engine block to trigger from the camshaft drive gear.

Can you provide a data sheed or details about its reliable operating temp range?

if its going to run in oil ...then NO....I tried and the sensor failed each time once the oil got over about 50 deg C

Is the datasheet available for this sensor somewhere?

I could always machine up a cover that would protect the senor from direct splashed oil to a degree, but I still need to know the reliable operating temperature range.

it is MDHall 437, and here is the spec sheet that we have for it.

I know it doesnt answer your questions, so I have asked for a clarificaiton of it for you.

Im hanging out to get this data sheet guys. The whole engine build process is on hold till I can locate a sensor that will do the job.

That sensor is designed for wheel speeds, and likely will not handle engine temperature. Rather than the DHall 437 you can choose an MHall which is a mag sensor rather than a hall effect. The mag sensor does not have sensitive electronic inside, so it can handle high temperatures.

A correction for the thread on this topic as well. The Mhall 437 is a hall effect sensor, not a mag sensor. The difference between the two is the Dhall triggers on ferrous material, the Mhall triggers only from a magnet. We have had great success using the Mhall as a cam sync pickup. (MoTeC USA sensor names used there)

As for an answer to your question, what sensor to use, where are you located? We are looking at a new sensor that may suit your application. It is a hall sensor, has a 0-150deg temperature range, and we have been testing in oil, reading from the front of a camshaft.

Try one from a Ford Duratec 2.0 & 2.3 / Mazda MZR I4 (focus, 3, 6, mx5 2006->, escape, tribute, ranger,etc) . They have one mounted in the rocker cover, in oil, with good o-ring sealing to keep oil in engine, and work a treat. They are essentially a conditioned mag sesnor, with digital output, run from 5-12v. Temp range no probs, have had my oil to 145C with sync or sensor failure. Might be able to get you a Ford part number, they are Very common.

else use a mag sensor like on Ford modular V8's post 2002 (Us lineup & aussie falcon V8, I6 uses same style of sensor,m in the oil....no dramas ever...i work in OEM).

Have used these on road & race cars, without EVER having a failure....being auto OEM parts, they meet stringent temp & enviromental durability.

Not taking away from the MoTeC parts, but i find these cheap & simple coz they were actually designed to do the job you asking to do!
