I want to add traction control and wheel speed data logging to a Nissan Skyline RWD saloon. The car has stock magnetic ABS sensors on all 4 wheels, and obviously Nissan have gone to some length to protect, screen and route cables nicely. I would like to keep these if I could, and use converters to return a digital signal to the M800 ecu. Finding suitable Hall effect sensors, making adaptors and wiring to fit them etcetera all seems a lot of work UNLESS a Hall effect has superior properties in some way, what's the score here please?

I have been doing more reading here, and now realize that Hall effect sensors operate properly at very low wheel speeds. I have also found that the GT 101 Hall Effect sensors are very easily mounted in the stock locations as they are nearly the same length, (a tad longer) and that they are the same diameter. Is the GT 101 a suitable sensor for reading stock wheel speed reluctor rings for TC purposes? Otherwise I will run the stock ones with AD converters. Thanks.

There are various mag-hall convertors out there. Just google magnetic vr to hall conversion

Some 2 and 4 channel ones about I think.

Cant comment on use with Motec as I dont use it on my car, but I use the GT101 and a toothed pickup on my car.

Front uses the remains of a Subaru ABS trigger wheel, and rear just uses the disc/bell bolts.

So I'm sure the Motec would be more than happy with what you propose and the GT101

Yes you may use the GT101 as an appropriate wheel speed sensor with a M800 ecu. The magnetic ones will not work with the input types of the M800 for wheel speed, but you could attempt to use one of our magnetic to hall effect adapters. We have 4 different versions of it, depending on your need and sensors. It would probably be easier to use our adapter than change all the wiring for the other sensors.

Do you have more info on those converters?
