Wiring gauge when using M81044/12 milspec wire

Postby racehatch on Wed Dec 28, 2011 11:22 am

Hey again,

I'm rewiring my car, currently running an M48 with motec CDI, just looking to confirm what wire gauge I should be using when running the M81044/12 milspec wire. The manual recommends using 12 gauge for power supply and ground (for cdi and m48), I assume this is when using standard auto wire, do I need 12 gauge with the milspec?

I also have Aeromotive A1000 pressure pump, the manual for this recommends 10 gauge (with 30A breaker) what would be the correct milspec wire to use?

any advice appreciated.

thanks,

Sam

Unless you want to save on wiring weight just use the same gauge wire as you normally would.
The Mill spec wire has a higher temp rating which allows it to carry more current for the same wire strand number.
